Lakshadweep air tickets sold out till March, shows poor connectivity
Tuesday, 9 January 2024 The Lakshadweep administration says it has taken several steps to make a trip to the archipelago easier by shifting the mandatory e-permit completely online and lifting prohibition on tourists from some areas. Earlier travellers, Indian citizens included, had to pay a fee of Rs 200 in a bank and submit the deposit challan to apply for an entry permit. Now, an online process ensures a permit can be issued within a day or two. While Lakshadweep has prohibition like Gujarat, parts of the tourist areas are exempted and liquor is sold there.
Polling in 102 parliamentary seats across 21 states and Union Territories in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections commenced at 7 am on April 19 and ended at 6 pm. Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. West Bengal recorded the highest turnout till 5 PM at 77.57 per cent, followed by Tripura at 76.10 per cent. Voter turnout in Assam stood at 70.77 per cent, while Manipur recorded a voter turnout of 68.58 per cent till 5 PM.
