Not surprised by attack on monks in politically-violent Bengal: Assam CM Himanta

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he was not astonished over the attack on 'sadhus' (monks) in the politically charged environment of West Bengal. Allegedly, a mob attacked three monks en route to Gangasagar Mela in Purulia district, suspecting them of being "kidnappers in disguise." Purulia Police, however, asserted that the incident resulted from a misunderstanding between the monks and three girls due to language barriers, dismissing any communal implications in the event. Sarma also mocked Rahul Gandhi's upcoming 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' as 'anyay yatra' (rally of injustice).
