Babri Masjid ‘systematically snatched’ from Muslims, claims Asaduddin Owaisi

IndiaTimes Sunday, 21 January 2024
In a recent statement, Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), asserted that the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was systematically taken away from the Muslim community. He highlighted that the Ram Mandir did not exist when the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) was formed, and Mahatma Gandhi never mentioned it. Owaisi emphasized the historical context, stating that Muslims had been offering namaz in the area for 500 years. He also criticized the actions taken during Congress' GB Pant's tenure as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, where idols were placed inside the masjid, leading to its closure. Additionally, Owaisi raised concerns about the imposition of religion in educational institutions, citing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's decision to organize Sunderkand Paath and Hanuman Chalisa at government schools.
