PM Modi, Macron unveil roadmap for military weapon manufacturing, space ties
Friday, 26 January 2024 The visit by French President Emmanuel Macron saw the two sides finalise several agreements, including one for a defence industrial roadmap, which will facilitate joint development and manufacturing of advanced military equipment, and another for defence space cooperation. There was an agreement also for joint production of civil helicopters by Tata and Airbus.
Italy has become the first European country to publicly signal its readiness to participate in a potential peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, as discussions of a ceasefire grow. Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto expressed Italy's willingness to contribute to peacekeeping efforts amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The proposal, initially raised by French President Macron, suggests sending an international contingent to monitor a potential truce. With other European nations remaining cautious, could Italy play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Ukraine crisis?
