A black pigeon suspected of espionage was released after spending eight months in captivity at a Mumbai veterinary hospital. The bird, detained due to cursive messages in ancient Chinese and a sensitive microchip on its legs, was innocent. The delay in releasing the pigeon sparked controversy with PETA India and the veterinary hospital accusing the police of being unresponsive.
