Supreme Court stays 15-day jail to ex-IPS in contempt case filed by Dhoni

IndiaTimes Monday, 5 February 2024
Supreme Court stayed the Madras High Court's ruling that found retired IPS officer Sampath Kumar guilty of contempt of court and sentenced him to 15 days in prison. This decision was based on a petition filed by former Indian cricket captain M S Dhoni. The bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan, acknowledging the appeal from the ex-IPS officer, issued a notice to Dhoni regarding his challenge to the High Court's order. The initial sentence of fifteen days' imprisonment, imposed by the High Court in December, has been put on hold.
