Before the final act of the nation's electoral drama unfolds and two weeks before Gujarat's inaugural ballot, the state has already dispatched a representative to the Lok Sabha. Mukesh Dalal, the BJP candidate, was announced on Monday as the uncontested victor from Surat, as all eight other contenders withdrew from the race following the rejection of Nilesh Kumbhani, the Congress nominee's nomination the day prior.
