'I'd rather stay alive in jail than get killed': Chennai gangster 'Bigil' Mani surrenders in court after recent encounters

Bigil Mani, who has 17 criminal cases against him, surrendered to the Tambaram judicial magistrate after three recent police encounter deaths. Fearing for his life and preferring jail over a potential encounter death, he requested judicial custody. He had been evading arrest for nearly a year.
