Neet aspirant's 6-month trauma: Minor held hostage, raped by two teachers in Kanpur
Saturday, 9 November 2024 A 17-year-old student in Kanpur endured months of horrific abuse after being lured to a fake New Year's party by her coaching teacher, Sahil Siddiqui. Siddiqui drugged and raped her, capturing the assault on video, and held her captive for six months, subjecting her to repeated assaults. Another teacher, Vikas Porwal, also participated in the abuse.
In a stunning betrayal, Turkish construction firm Gulermak has reportedly fled Kanpur, leaving behind ₹80 crore in unpaid dues and 53 Indian contractors high and dry. The company, responsible for the underground section of the Kanpur Metro, delayed payments for nearly ten months—then vanished. This came in the wake of nationwide anti-Turkey protests tied to Ankara's stance in the India-Pakistan conflict. Despite repeated complaints, UPMRC and government authorities took no action, allowing foreign officials to evade accountability. Is this a case of pure negligence—or a political embarrassment India can’t afford to ignore?
