Soldiers at Siachen glacier now have high-speed internet
Monday, 13 January 2025 Reliance Jio, in collaboration with the Indian Army, has become the first telecom operator to extend 4G and 5G network connectivity to the Siachen glacier. Utilizing pre-configured, indigenous full-stack 5G technology, the deployment at 16,000 feet in extreme conditions at Siachen was made possible with significant logistical support from the Army.
With a range of around 30 km, the system would be complementing the existing systems in the forces like the MRSAM and Akash in short to medium ranges. DNA
