Cofeposa invoked against actor Ranya Rao in gold smuggling case; here's what it means

The Union government has invoked the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities (Cofeposa) Act against actor Ranya Rao, daughter of an IPS officer, in connection with an alleged gold-smuggling case. Currently in judicial custody, her bail petitions have been rejected by lower courts.
