'Wrong operation done to claim govt funds: Bengal man goes for hernia surgery, doctors remove appendix instead; kin cry foul
Wednesday, 2 July 2025 () A Sodepur resident, Biswajit Das, alleges a doctor with the same name removed his appendix during a hernia surgery at a private nursing home. Advised to undergo the procedure, the patient claims the doctor performed an unnecessary appendectomy to claim funds from the Swasthya Sathi scheme, as hernia surgeries aren't covered.
