No utilisation certificate, WB police funds withheld: Govt

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 6 August 2025 ()
The home ministry revealed that West Bengal received only Rs 7 crore out of a Rs 117 crore allocation for police modernization in the last five years. This shortfall is attributed to the state government's unspent balances and failure to submit utilization certificates. Consequently, funds were not released in multiple years, despite allocations, highlighting concerns over financial accountability.
