What is the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand?

Uttarakhand has become the first state in India to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). The UCC, launched by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, standardizes personal laws related to marriage, divorce, inheritance, and more for all citizens. It bans practices like polygamy and child marriage and includes live-in relationships and inheritance rights for children born from such unions.
