Rohit Sharma will lead India against Ireland on June 5 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. It is the same venue where India played a warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 5. India would look to play with full strength. Many experts want Kohli, who has an average of 81.5 in T20 World Cups, to open with Rohit. Virat converted 14 of his 25 T20 WC innings into 50-plus scores.

India on Thursday reaffirmed its long-standing position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict following the recent recognition of Palestine by Ireland, Norway, and Spain. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted India's historical support for Palestinian statehood and a two-state solution. When asked about the coordinated decision by Spain, Ireland, and Norway to formally recognise Palestine, Jaiswal, at a weekly press briefing, said, “As you are aware, India was one of the first countries to recognise the state of Palestine in the late 1980s, and we have long supported a two-state solution which entails the establishment of a sovereign, viable, and independent state of Palestine within recognised and mutually agreed borders, living side by side with Israel in peace.”

Chile has officially joined a coalition of countries backing South Africa in its genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Chilean President Gabriel Boric announced the decision on Saturday, expressing deep concern over the "catastrophic humanitarian situation" in Gaza, particularly the impact on women and children. "Chile will become a party to and support the case that South Africa presented against Israel before the International Court of Justice in The Hague," Boric stated, addressing the National Congress. He strongly criticised the Israeli military for employing "indiscriminate and disproportional" force, emphasising that these acts demand a "firm and permanent response from the international community."
