At least 25 missing after Myanmar jade mine landslide

IndiaTimes Monday, 14 August 2023
A landslide at an unregulated jade mine in northern Kachin's Hpakant township, Myanmar, has resulted in at least 25 people going missing. The highly-lucrative jade mining industry is mostly unregulated, with undeclared migrant workers enduring dangerous conditions and frequent accidents. Dozens die annually while working in the poorly regulated and lucrative jade industry, with a gem highly coveted in neighbouring China.
