Taiwan proposes $3bn spending on new weapons, gets F-16 boost

Taiwan plans to spend an additional $2.97 billion on weapons next year, including fighter jets and F-16 tracking systems, to strengthen its defenses against China. China has been increasing military and political pressure on Taiwan, which it considers its own territory. The US recently approved a potential $500 million sale of infrared search and track systems for F-16 jets to Taiwan.
