Sunday, 27 August 2023 House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has suggested that an impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden is becoming more likely as Congress ends its summer break. McCarthy, a Republican, has not committed to an impeachment vote but believes it is a "natural step forward" for Congress to have the power to gather information. Some House Republicans want to investigate Biden over alleged financial misconduct involving his son, but there is no evidence of wrongdoing by the president.
