Tensions are rising in the South China Sea as China asserts its claim of ownership and clashes with neighboring countries. In a recent encounter, a Chinese vessel came dangerously close to colliding with a Philippine coastguard boat. The Philippines was escorting smaller boats to a disputed shoal, which has irked China.
