Putin in Beijing, visits ‘dear friend’ Xi in show of no-limits partnership

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Beijing for a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This visit is seen as a way to showcase the strong partnership between the two countries amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. It is Putin's first official trip outside of the former Soviet Union this year. The visit is taking place on the sidelines of an international conference and is not a full-fledged bilateral visit. China has rejected criticism of its partnership with Russia and asserts its right to collaborate with any country it chooses.
