Thursday, 26 October 2023 President Joe Biden has warned China that the US will intervene if Beijing attacks Philippine vessels in the South China Sea. Biden made the statement after two collisions occurred over the weekend in the disputed waterway. The American president emphasized the United States' defense commitment to the Philippines and stated that any attack on Filipino aircraft, vessels, or armed forces would invoke the Mutual Defense Treaty between the two countries.
