Iran sentences a woman to death for adultery

An Iranian court has sentenced a female gym trainer to death for adultery. The woman's husband reported her to the police after finding her with another man at their home, whom he discovered through surveillance cameras. Although Iranian law allows for appeals, the country has faced international criticism for its frequent use of the death penalty. The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, warned that Iran was executing people at an "alarming rate." Crimes such as adultery, sodomy, murder, rape, armed robbery, kidnapping, and drug trafficking are all punishable by death in Iran.
