Judge, citing Trump's 'repeated public statements,' orders anonymous jury in defamation suit trial
Saturday, 4 November 2023 A federal judge in New York has ordered that the jury in a defamation lawsuit against former President Donald Trump will be anonymous. The judge cited Trump's "repeated public statements" as a reason for the jury to be given anonymity, as well as the extensive media coverage surrounding the case. The trial, set for January, stems from a lawsuit filed by a writer who alleges that Trump sexually abused her in the 1990s. Another jury, also anonymous, previously awarded damages to a columnist who accused Trump of sexual abuse.
President Donald Trumps combative interaction with his New York trial judge served him well. The judges outburst and claims he is "not here to listen to Trump," will serve as grounds for an appeal.
