Pakistan to hold senate elections in March next year

Pakistan is expected to hold Senate elections in the first week of March next year, with preparations already underway. 50 Senate members are set to retire on March 11, and four seats will become vacant after the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. After the general elections, elections will be held for the 48 vacant Senate seats, with elected members from national and provincial assemblies voting. Former President Asif Ali Zardari expressed confidence in the Election Commission to conduct transparent elections.
