The town, home to 25,000 residents and situated in the heart of Australia, has historically grappled with crime and social issues, partly fueled by friction between Aboriginal and white communities, alongside alcohol-related problems.
The Australian town of Alice Springs has been placed under a youth curfew following an outbreak of violence. For the next two weeks, under-18s must remain at home between 6pm and 6am, while additional police will be deployed to Alice Springs to help maintain order.
