Earlier this month, News 25 ran a feature piece on a local high school softball player just a few weeks away from chasing her dream of playing at the next level despite being just four games into her junior season.

- earlier this month... news 25 - ran a feature piece, on a local- high school softball player...- just a few weeks away from- chasing her dream, of playing a- the next level... despite - being just four games into her- junior season.- that player is west harrison's- marley sims... and today... tha- player made it official, with - chipola college... in - marianna, florida.- this evening... sims signed her- national letter of intent, in - front of a socially distanced - crowd... at the - county farm road 3-6-1 shelter.- at just 17 years of age... sims- - - - is on the fast-track, to playin- collegiate softball... having - already graduated high- school... as a junior.- unusual, to say the least... bu- sims hardly has anything left t- prove on the diamond, as a lady- hurricane... serving as west- harrison's starting shortstop..- and lead-off hitter...- since her eighth grade season.- the end result was a career .50- on-base percentage... as- she now joins the reigning n-j-- c-double-a division i - national champions... a year- ahead of her time.- - "i mean it's still crazy but it kind of just feels- normal now.

It feels like i'm - just supposed to be graduating- at this time.

And i'm - ready to get to chipola and i'm- ready to see all my coaches and- my teammates and- - - - get to play with them."

"well, when marley came in as a eighth- grader i knew marley - and- marley told me - i want to go - play college softball.

That - has been a goal of hers, and- being able to go do that early,- - - - i think to her it may not have- hit just quite yet.

But she's - going to be like wow, i'm 17, - and i'm a college - freshman."

Sims verbally committed to- chipola college... all the- way back in october.- and fun fact... she actually- switched from batting right-- handed, to left-handed... as a- seventh grader.
