Scaredy cat runs away after being confronted by two angry magpies

A postman was stunned when he filmed a scaredy-cat being bullied by two bolshy magpies.David Archibald, 53, was on his way to work when he spotted the ginger moggie being hen-pecked by the angry birds. He filmed the petrified puss being harangued by the birds before it ran off with his tail between his legs last Friday (29/5).The video shows the ginger cat sneaking up on an unsuspecting magpie which was perched on a road sign in Corby, Northants. However, the tables are quickly turned when the bird aggressively chases off the startled cat, with another fellow magpie joining in the stand-off. David, a dad-of-one, said: "I was just driving out for work at about 4.30am."I pulled up to a T-Junction and I noticed this bird, a magpie, which was sat on a road sign."I could see the cat was sneaking up on it, so to speak, doing the little crawl along by the kerb.

The magpie turned around and clocked it. "I couldn't get my phone out quick enough but I managed to capture the bit afterwards. "Basically, the magpie got down on the floor and started chasing the cat and then it was backed up by another magpie.

They managed to chase it away."It's one of the neighbour's cats. "It looks just like a fox and I thought it was a fox at first, because of its colour and the white bit in its tail.

That's what caught my eye."I saw it sneaking up but when the bird jumped down I thought 'Whoa that isn't right, it should be the other way round.' "The cat shouldn't be running away from it, it is a role reversal.

I've never seen that before and I probably will never get to see it again, to be honest. "You see dead birds lying about the place but you never actually see a cat trying to sneak up on one and then get chased away."I don't know whether it had a nest nearby but it was weird it went for the cat instead of flying away."It's pretty weird that the magpie went for it instead of just flying away.

I don't know what the cat was thinking it was going do, but it failed."ENDS
