Is your salon or barbershop following safety guidelines?

With salons and barbershops reopened to the public, it’s important to make sure CDC guidelines are followed to keep down the spread of the coronavirus.

The mayor says this includes notifying the state if shops and salons are not putting your safety first and enforcing cdc guidlines.

"you would contact the mississippi board of cosmetology."

Salons and barbershops are asked to wear gloves and masks while working... the board of cosmetology also requires stylists to sanitize equipment before opening for the day.

As a customer if you do not see these precautions being taken mayor jason shelton advises that you do not stay for services "it looks like it's too crowded or people aren't social distancing you can turn around and leave."

He says finding a place where you feel safe is the best option "if you don't like the way that business is doing things you can choose a new beautician or barbershop to do business with."

The state board of cosmetology also asks only one person per stylists is allowed in at one time.
