Continuous rainfall affects entire North Sikkim, landslides at several places

Landslides, occurred after continuous rainfall for last four days, have cut off entire North Sikkim from the rest of the state.

Several houses have been damaged and around 12 families have been shifted to safer places.The upper areas of north Sikkim especially Chungthang, Lachen, and Lachung have been disconnected due to landslides with North District headquarter.

Both the North Sikkim Highways connecting from Gangtok Tashi view point at Ramthang and Dikchu-Mangan road is also closed due to landslides at Sokpay at Dikchu and Namok Khola.The Border Road Organization has pressed their work force to clear the landslides.

District administration is assessing reports of the damages caused by the disaster.
