Gov. Tate Reeves signed House Bill 1796 into law Tuesday afternoon, thus removing the longtime state flag which featured a Confederate battle emblem. Video provided by WLBT-TV.
After the Mississippi Legislature voted to adopt a new state flag without the Confederate battle emblem Sunday, the bill now needs approval from Governor Tate Reeves to move forward.
