Angry cat with a fierce scowl guards farmer's watermelons

An angry cat has such a fierce scowl that a farmer uses him to guard the harvests of watermelons.

Six-year-old Kaimook, or Pearl in English, travels with owner Pumpui around the farm in Suphan Buri, central Thailand, while the fruit is collected and taken to a nearby market.

Pearl sits attentively on the watermelons as they are loaded into a truck and gives thousand-yard stare to anyone who dares walk near them.

The owner said she has never seen any happy expressions from Pearl since he was born six years ago.

Speaking today (June30), Pumpui said: "To be honest, I've never seen my cat smile, never.'' The half Persian mixed-breed moggy has become well known in the local area for sitting on his favorite white plastic chair surrounded by tons of watermelons, which he watches over on the farm and at the market.

He also travels in the back on the pick-up truck keeping watch over the produce.

Pumpui said that nobody knows what kind of mood Pearl is in, because he always gives everyone the same grumpy look.

The farmed added: "Pearl loves going everywhere with me, he refuses to stay with anyone else.

"He looks angry but actually he's really kind to children.

He's a lovely, friendly cat even though he looks grumpy.''
