Landslide destroys road after heavy rain in the Philippines

Footage shows massive landslide erosion from mountain roads in Digos City, the Philippines after 12 hours of heavy rain which started on June 28 evening.

Rhannie Rose Armada, who lives near the erosion said she was astonished when she saw the destruction in the morning.

She said: "We live a few miles away from the evacuation centers so we cannot leave during the night.

We saw the roads in the morning before we left our houses to evacuate." The local government has instructed residents to visit evacuation centers even after the rain had stopped and stay there until the weather conditions improve.

Several parts of the Mindanao region were battered by thunderstorms that forced more than 300 families to leave their homes and spend the night in evacuation centers.
