China rushes to reinforce river banks amid floods

The flood fighting effort continued in southern China on Thursday (July 16), with soldiers rushing against time to reinforce riverbanks with sandbags and residents moving out of areas at risk of becoming inundated.

In Anhui province, people moved to safety camps, with a residential area in Tongling city near the Changhe river at risk of overflowing, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
