Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has written to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh seeking the assistance of the Army in tackling the Covid situation in the capital. Delhi has been witnessing a high number of cases and deaths in the second wave of Covid and the crisis has been compounded by the shortage of oxygen in hospitals. Deputy CM Sisodia said that the government has appealed to all sections to help transport oxygen to the capital. Former Attorney General & Constitutional law expert Soli Sorabjee died on Friday. The 91-year-old veteran lawyer passed away after getting infected with Covid-19. Sorabjee had served as the Attorney General for India from 1989-90 & then from 1998-2004. The Former Attorney General was admitted to a private hospital in South Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and condoled Sorabjee's demise. VP Venkaiah Naidu, union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, RS Prasad and Smriti Irani also paid their tribute to the former Attorney General. NCP chief Sharad Pawar and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also tweeted and expressed their condolences. Born in 1930, Soli Sorabjee had been honoured with Padma Vibhushan in 2002.

The Delhi government has said that People under the age of 45 won't get shots of Covaxin from tomorrow with limited stocks left for the next four days. ITBP IG, Anand Swaroop visited Delhi's Sardar Patel Covid care centre on Friday. Swaroop reviewed ground arrangements at the covid centre in Chhatarpur. Senior ITBP officials regularly visit the centre to meet patients, take stock of arrangements. The IG visited the facility for the fourth time in the past 6 days to see the patients. At present, Sardar Patel CCC is managing over 400 Covid patients on oxygen support. The covid facility was jointly established by Delhi govt and ITBP on April 26, 2021. Last year too, during the first wave, the facility was set up to serve Covid patients. Oxygen supply at the centre has been normalised and there's no lack of oxygen for patients. The centre provides medical treatment, medicines, food, etc to patients free of cost. Services inside the centre are managed by doctors, ITBP medical staff and NGO volunteers.

Senior ITBP officials visited Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre in Delhi's Chhatarpur to meet patients and examine ground arrangements on April 30. 400 patients are presently admitted at the centre. Several locals had complained of poor management at the Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre.
A COVID care centre with 500 oxygen-supported beds run by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) began functioning from Monday with the admission of at least 25 patients, officials said. The facility, named Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel COVID Care Centre (SPCCC), has been opened in view of Delhi registering a sharp rise in coronavirus cases and its healthcare system creaking under the pressure. It is located at the Radha Soami Beas campus in the Chhattarpur area of south Delhi. ITBP has said that treatment at this centre will be free of cost. Watch the full video for more details.

The prevailing situation in Delhi due to the second wave of COVID-19 has forced the expansion of health infrastructure in the national capital. In line with this, the ITBP-run Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre in Delhi's Chhatarpur, which was started last year in view of the pandemic, reopened on April 26. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and State Health Minister Satyendar Jain visited the centre. The centre began operation today as the first patient was seen arriving in an ambulance.
TMC MP Derek O’Brien lashed out at the TMC leaders who deserted the party ahead of the West Bengal polls. The TMC MP said that the same people who featured in tapes accepting bribes and had been earlier attacked by the BJP are now in the saffron party and are considered to be clean. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on March 28 laid foundation stone for extension of terminal building at Gorakhpur Airport in Uttar Pradesh. Civil Aviation Minister (Independent Charge) Hardeep Singh Puri was also present during the event. Dignitaries also flagged off an Alliance Air flight from Gorakhpur to Lucknow under RCS-UDAN on this occasion. Nand Gopal Gupta, Minister of Civil Aviation, Uttar Pradesh; Ravindra Shyamnarayan Shukla 'Ravi Kishan' MP (Lok Sabha); Shiv Pratap Khukla, MP (Rajya Sabha); Jai Prakash Nishad, MP (Rajya Sabha) and Dr. Radha Mohan Das Agrawal, MLA Gorakhpur Urban (U.P.) Shri Anuj Agrawal, Chairman, AAI, and other senior officials of AAI were also present during the event. The existing terminal building commissioned in the year 2018 was designed to cater 100 passengers and has an area of 1890 sqm. The passenger traffic at the Gorakhpur airport has grown exponentially in very short span of time. Thus, to increase the passenger handling capacity of the airport and make the airport suitable for Airbus 320 type of Aircraft, AAI has planned the extension of the existing terminal building at a cost of Rs 26.87 crore. Spread in an area of 3440 sqm, the extended terminal will be equipped with 10 check-in-counters and two conveyor belts in arrival hall. The new expanded building will have escalators, lifts and enough space for a restaurant and commercial activities. Airports Authority of India (AAI) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation is committed to develop airport infrastructure in the country and provide the world-class services.
As 1st phase of West Bengal assembly elections began on March 27, Rajya Sabha MP and TMC leader Derek O'Brien expressed confidence on TMC's performance. He said, "TMC will win Bengal. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday. Taking to Twitter, Adityanath said he is in self-isolation and doing tasks virtually. On Tuesday, the CM isolated himself after some staffers in his office tested positive. Development comes shortly after the UP CM wrapped up his campaign for Bengal polls. Adityanath took the first jab of COVID-19 vaccine on April 05 at a Civil Hospital in Lucknow. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has tested positive for coronavirus. Yadav had recently visited Haridwar where Kumbh Mela is underway & met religious leaders. Uttar Pradesh urban development minister Ashutosh Tandon has also tested positive. UP govt has already announced restrictions on gatherings of people in view of Covid. Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday reported highest-ever single-day spike of 18,021 cases and 85 deaths. Adityanath govt has also imposed a night curfew in districts with over 500 active cases.

IAF continues its efforts towards Covid relief as India fights a devastating second wave. IAF IL-76 aircraft airlifted 3 cryogenic oxygen containers from Singapore on Saturday. As per official statement, the oxygen tankers landed at Panagarh Air base, West Bengal. An IAF C-17 is also bringing 3 oxygen containers & 3 pallets of respirators from Israel. The IAF aircraft will reach Hindan Air base in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, IAF aircraft are already ferrying oxygen tankers within the country. With over 4.1 lakh new cases, India again reported highest single-day spike on Thursday.
