Panjab University professor traces roots of 1857 revolt slain soldiers

A professor of Panjab University traced identities of Ajnala skeletal, which was excavated in the year of 2014 from a well in Ajnala near Amritsar.

Most of Ajnala teeth belonged to adult males between 20-50 years of age.

According to historical accounts, victims of 26th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry were killed in 1857 at Ajnala came from states of West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Awadh.
