The mortal remains of senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel were brought to Sardar Patel Hospital in his hometown of Bharuch in Gujarat on November 25. His last rites will likely be performed on November 26 in his native place. The veteran Congress leader, a confidante of party's interim president Sonia Gandhi, passed away in the wee hours of November 25, his son Faisal Patel confirmed on Twitter. Ahmed Patel had tested positive for coronavirus around a month back, and was undergoing treatment at a Gurugram hospital. The seasoned leader died due to multi-organ failure. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Sonia Gandhi, almost every political leader condoled Ahmed Patel's death. PM Modi called him a person with "sharp mind" and someone who "strengthened" the Congress party. Whereas Sonia Gandhi said she has lost an "irreplaceable comrade" in Ahmed Patel.
A new Congress president will be elected in June 2021, said party leader KC Venugopal after the CWC meeting. ‘The CWC discussed the schedule of Congress president's elections in May-end, proposed by its election authority. Parts of national capital and Haryana's Gurugram received hailstorm and rain on January 06. However, the continuous rainfall in Delhi kept the minimum temperature at tolerable level of around 12 Degree Celsius. Water logging was also reported in some places due to the continuous downpour. According to IMD, thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of many places in Delhi and surrounding region. Sharma said, "We are expecting dense fog in morning at isolated places in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. We expect dry weather conditions in North West region and plains. Cold wave conditions would continue at isolated places in East UP." "The minimum temperature in Delhi-NCR would be in the range of 4-5 degrees Celsius and maximum would be around 21-22 degrees Celsius. We are expecting moderate fog in the morning and dry weather conditions in Delhi-NCR," he added.
