Created by American motoring start-up Aptera Motors in San Diego, Aptera EV is charged purely by the sun.

The futuristic-looking vehicle features more than 32 square feet of solar panels that are integrated into the body.

This setup allows the driver to travel up to 45 miles a day and up to 11,000 miles per year, purely using energy harnessed from the sun.

The sleek, lightweight two-person vehicle is made of lightweight composites that are stronger than steel, allowing its unique body shape to slip through the air with an unheard-of drag coefficient.

Its front-wheel drive vehicle can go from zero to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, and its three-wheel drive model can get to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

The company began taking orders from Friday, December 4, with deliveries expected to begin next year.
