West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declined to speak at an event where ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans were raised in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said, “Jai Shree Ram isn't a statement where one should react in a very allergic manner.

Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on April 19 announced that 121 fast- track courts has been sanctioned for Bengal for sexual offences against children in West Bengal. "Been writing to Mamata Banerjee for her consent but all went in vain. You're a woman CM. What's the problem with fast-track courts for sexual offences against children?" Law Minister asked. With yet another jibe, Prime Minister in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas asked how Chief Minister Mamata is going to tolerate 'Har Har Mahadev' slogans in Varansi, where she is "planning to contest elections", when 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans irk her. "Didi's party says that she will contest from Varanasi, which makes two things clear -- that she has accepted her defeat in Bengal and that Didi has started a search for her space outside Bengal," said PM Narendra Modi in Sonarpur. He added, "People of Varanasi are as kind-hearted as people of Bengal. But you (Mamata Banerjee) will meet so many people with vermillion and 'choti'. Hitting back at senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh for his critique of the government's COVID-19 management, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Monday alleged the second wave of the pandemic was instead fuelled by Congress ruled states as they were busy raising doubts about vaccines rather than vaccinating people.
