Watch: Indian Army trains its soldiers for high altitude operations in Gulmarg

India Army is training its soldiers for high altitude operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

Training is being conducted at Army's High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) in Gulmarg.

The Indian Army training includes skiing techniques to patrol effectively.

“These soldiers are part of the team which is deployed all along the mountains.

After training is completed, the soldiers move back to their respective units.

Intake for the basic course is 180 students while for the advanced is 100 students,” Senior trainer Lt Col Dipankar said.

New techniques with latest equipment shape soldiers’ skills for successful rescue operations.

Trainer Major Saleem Jafar said, “Training in winter warfare course includes military skiing, this helps in operating effectively.” This training is given to soldiers to ensure smooth operations in extremely harsh climates.
