Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MP K Kanimozhi, who has tested positive for COVID-19, on Tuesday cast her vote for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections while wearing a Personal protective equipment (PPE) kit. The DMK leader voted at a polling station in Mylapore. "I tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, I was advised to isolate. Have been receiving medical care in a hospital. I thank all those who have sent me messages and expressed concern for my well-being," the DMK leader had tweeted on Monday. Tamil Nadu went to polls on Tuesday in a single phase and recorded a voter turnout of 67.64 per cent. Watch the full video for more details.

DMK MP K Kanimozhi, who had tested positive for COVID-19, cast her vote in PPE kit at a polling station in Chennai's Mylapore on April 06. Along with her, other positive patients also arrived at the polling booth to cast their vote. Election Commission has designated one hour between 6 pm and 7 pm for voting by COVID positive patients. Elections are being conducted on all 234 seats in Tamil Nadu today and counting of votes will be done on May 02.
Where several states are complaining about the shortage of COVID vaccines, Tamil Nadu on the other hand asserted that the state does not have any such problem. Tamil Nadu Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan on April 10 informed that his state does not have any shortage of vaccines. "The no. of active cases in the state is now around 33,659 including 12,861 cases in Chennai. We are rapidly increasing COVID care centers. Here, we are planning 11,775 COVID care centres so that asymptomatic and mild cases don't occupy the oxygen beds," he said. "In Tamil Nadu, we don't have a shortage of vaccines. We have almost 18 lakh doses of vaccine available. We are aiming to do 2 lakh vaccinations in a day. In that case, our stock will last for 9 days," he added.

Ruckus at Congress office in Puducherry during party's Election Committee meeting. Additional security forces were deployed outside the party office following ruckus. Scuffle started after Congress leader MP Venkatesan waved a DMK flag in the meeting. Members entered into verbal arguments, started getting physical by pushing one another. Former Puducherry chief minister V Narayanasamy was also present at the meeting. Polling for 30 assembly seats in Puducherry will be held on April 6, results on May 2. Congress has entered into an alliance with DMK, CPI, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK). As per seat-sharing agreement, Congress will contest from 15 seats while DMK from 13. CPI and VCK will field their candidates on one seat each in upcoming assembly polls.

During a public rally in West Bengal's Siliguri, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 10 conveyed his condolences to the demise of the people who died in the Cooch Behar firing incident and said his sympathies are with the families of those who died in the incident. "What happened in Cooch Behar is very saddening. My sympathies are with the families of those who died, I condole their demise. Didi and her goons are perturbed, seeing the people's support for BJP. She has stooped to this level as she can see her chair slipping away," the PM said. "I would like to tell Didi, TMC and their goons clearly that their ways will not be allowed to work in Bengal. I urge the Election Commission to take strict action against the accused of the incident in Cooch Behar," he added. The counting of votes for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections is currently underway across 16 sub-divisional magistrate offices in Tripura. The election was contested among 157 candidates including 14 from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 17 from Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura(IPFT ) candidates, 28 from Left Front, 28 from Congress, four from the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT), 30 from other political parties, and 38 independent candidates.Counting at Birendra Nagar School, Jirinia was seen amid tight security arrangements.
