A ul-lafayette music professor wants to put instruments in the hands of dominican students when he travels there this summer.dr. benjamin yates is part of an effort to collect used instruments that work or need only minor repairs to donate when he serves as a featured artist and teacher this august in the dominican republic.he and two other trombonists are trying to raise $2,500 to pay for repairs to any donated instruments.
Benjamin yates/ assistant professor ul what we wanted to do was go to the dominican republic and actually take part in this trombone convention, tha's actually a new convention happening there.
What we thought would be really cool is that if part of that was donating instruments to some of these community groups that do't have many resources for new intsruments or even working instruments sometimes.
This kind of turned into a way of us also going to the dr and being able to support those groups with some of these donations.
