Russia supplied India with $13 bn arms in past 5 years: report Russian news agencies | Oneindia News
Late on Sunday, Russian state news agencies reported that the country supplied India with around $13 billion of arms during the past five years, and New Delhi has orders placed with Moscow for weapons and military equipment exceeding $10 billion.
As per reports, India is the world's biggest buyer of Russian arms, accounting for around 20% of Moscow's current order book, and New Delhi has not explicitly condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

India has strongly pushed back against U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to impose higher tariffs over Russian oil imports. In a sharp rebuttal, New Delhi slammed the U.S. and EU for what it called “hypocrisy,” pointing out that Western nations continue their own trade ties while pressuring others. Indian officials argue that their energy deals are legal, transparent, and necessary for economic stability

In a scathing rebuke, top Trump aide Stephen Miller has accused India of "financing Russia’s war in Ukraine" by continuing to import oil from Moscow. Speaking on Fox News, Miller expressed alarm over India’s near-parity with China in buying Russian crude — calling it an “astonishing fact.” This comes after President Trump, escalating economic pressure, imposed a 25% tariff on Indian goods and warned of a potential 100% tariff on imports from countries dealing with Russia.
Indian officials, however, remain firm on maintaining ties with Moscow for oil purchases. The Indian Embassy in Washington has not responded, but sources told Reuters that New Delhi will not bow to threats. Miller noted Trump's "tremendous" relationship with PM Modi, but the strong rhetoric signals a shift. The stakes are high, and tensions are brewing as Trump's foreign policy sharpens its focus on global alignments.

India has officially declined the U.S. offer to purchase F-35 fighter jets, citing strategic constraints and Trump’s new 25% tariffs on Indian goods. Instead, Russia’s Su-57 has emerged as the top contender, with Moscow offering co-production and Make-in-India support. India's Air Force modernization push comes amid rising threats from China and Pakistan’s growing fighter fleets. The F-35's inability to integrate with non-NATO weapons and its $100M+ price tag made it less viable for India. The shift signals New Delhi's pivot in defense policy amid strained U.S.-India trade ties.

In a chilling development, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev declared that Moscow is no longer bound by its self-imposed moratorium on deploying medium- and short-range missiles — a move that signals a sharp escalation in its confrontation with NATO. Citing “the result of NATO’s anti-Russian policy,” Medvedev warned the West to brace for “further steps,” calling this aggressive shift a “new reality” that Russia’s opponents must face. This policy shift paves the way for the Kremlin to deploy ground-based missile systems previously banned under the now-defunct INF Treaty. Moscow’s decision has sparked fears across Europe and the U.S. of a renewed arms race and heightened global instability. The announcement comes amid rising tensions over Ukraine, NATO expansion, and growing military drills along Russian borders. As Russia signals its readiness to respond forcefully, the geopolitical chessboard enters dangerous new territory.

Nineteen people have gone on trial under strict security in Moscow, accused of taking part in last year's concert hall massacre in the city that killed 149.. Sky News
In a dramatic display of low-tech defense, Russian troops reportedly shot down six Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) using assault rifles during an attempted drone attack on a freight train in the Zaporozhye Region. The encounter, captured on video and shared by RT, shows soldiers firing directly at incoming drones — destroying them mid-air before they could reach their target.
The freight train was secured, and no damage was reported. According to Russian sources, this marks an increase in Ukraine’s drone attacks on civilian infrastructure — a trend Moscow says it will counter with any means necessary.
