Marking the 1821 War of Independence, Athens hosted a military parade, church services, ceremonial gun salutes, and a flag-raising at the Acropolis, attended by national leaders.

We now know when 'The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum' will hit theaters, as well as the release dates for two other Warner Bros. movies. Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema revealed that Andy Serkis' 'The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum' will open in cinemas on December 17th, 2027. Andy Serkis will both direct the movie and star in it. Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens — the Oscar-winning team behind the blockbuster 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit' trilogies — are producing the film. Walsh and Boyens are also among the film's writers.

Before Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected as the new Pope, Catholic cardinals reportedly consulted the 2024 film 'Conclave' ahead of the conclave to find Pope Francis' successor. According to Politico, a number of cardinals who are a part of the ongoing conclave that began Wednesday in Rome watched 'Conclave' as a, quote, "helpful research tool" to learn more about the process of selecting a new pope.
