Home Secretary Suella Braverman has declared that the risk of terrorism is increasing as the government unveils an updated version of its counter-terrorism strategy.
Braverman highlighted the challenges posed by a terrorist threat that is more elusive and difficult to identify, as well as the evolving danger from Islamist terrorist groups abroad.

In Pakistan's Punjab province, a mob led by radical Islamists attacked Christians in Sargodha over alleged Quran desecration, injuring two. Nazir Gill Masih, falsely accused, was lynched and beaten. The police intervened, dispersing the mob and rescuing Nazir, but tensions persisted. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and activist Sara Taseer expressed grave concern, urging swift action to protect the vulnerable Christian community.

Shadow defence secretary John Healey has ruled out raising taxes on working people. It comes as Rishi Sunak accused Labour of increasing taxes by £2,000 per family should they get into government. "We will not be raising income tax or VAT or national insurance - these are the things that count most as people are trying to manage their work income and family budgets," Mr Healey said.
