Judge rules that Prince Harry’s lawsuit against Sun publisher can go to trial

A judge has ruled that Prince Harry will only be allowed to take part of his damages claim against The Sun newspaper, to trial at the High Court.

Mr Justice Fancourt ruled the Duke of Sussex cannot bring his claim in relation to phone hacking, but other allegations relating to unlawful information gathering, such as the use of private investigators can be tried.

He refused to allow the Prince to amend his case to rely on a "secret agreement" between Buckingham Palace and senior News Group Newspapers (NGN) executives.

A spokesperson for NGN called the ruling a "significant victory" for the company.
