Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a first-person shooter video game, developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision in November 2007 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

A version for the Wii was released in November 2009 subtitled Reflex Edition.

The fourth title in the Call of Duty series and the first game to have an M (Mature) rating in the United States, Call of Duty 4 moves away from previous World War II tropes and sets itself in a modern setting.

It was in production for two years and uses a game engine called the IW engine, owned by Infinity Ward.
