MPs hold silence for those affected by Israel-Hamas war
Ahead of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's statement on the Israel-Hamas war, Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle invites MPs to observe a minute's silence "in recognitition of all those innocent Israelis, Palestinians and others who have lost their lives, all those taken hostage and all those affected" by the conflict.

Hamas criticised US President Joe Biden on Sunday for linking a Gaza cease-fire to the release of Israelis held captive by the Palestinian group. Biden stated on Saturday that a cease-fire in Gaza could occur as soon as ātomorrowā if Hamas released Israelis in its custody. Hamas deemed this stance as a step backward from the outcomes of previous negotiations. A Moroccan asylum seeker has been sentenced to life in jail for murder, with a minimum term of 45 years, at Teesside Crown Court. In October last year, 45-year-old Ahmed Alid stabbed Iranian Christian convert Javed Nouri at the house he was sharing with other asylum seekers before looking for more victims in Hartlepool town centre. He then stabbed and killed 70-year-old Terence Carney who was out for his regular early morning walk.
