According to AccuWeather experts, an estimated 180 million people in the eastern half of the United States are bracing for severe weather.

'The Independent' reports that extreme weather could include heavy rain, powerful winds, snowfall and large thunderstorms. Meteorologists have warned that fallen trees, power outages and other damage could be experienced across the East as winds and rain increase.

The storm is set to hit on December 8 as low pressure interacts with energy left over from a weather formation in the Northwest, generating more extreme weather.

By December 9 the storm is expected to stretch across over 1,200 miles, spanning from the Canadian border all the way down to the Gulf Coast.
