Italy’s Giorgia Meloni opens Africa summit with plan to curb migration and boost development
Italy’s prime minister opened the summit in Rome unveiling the country’s plan for developing the continent, which she hopes would stop migration to Europe.
At the G7 Summit in Canada, President Trump and British PM Keir Starmer announced a new trade agreement lowering some tariffs on U.K. goods. The deal removes duties on aerospace products and offers British carmakers a 100,000-vehicle quota at reduced rates. However, steel and aluminum remain sticking points, with potential tariffs looming if security terms aren't met by July 9. While the U.K. celebrates gains in auto and aerospace, questions linger over construction and defense-linked steel exports. The U.S. will also gain beef export access under strict food safety rules.

Panic swept through Rome’s Prenestino district after a thunderous explosion rocked a gas and fuel depot, lighting up the night sky with a fiery orange blast.
