Alex Garland's 'Civil War' First Reactions From Premiere, Called "Scary as Hell" | THR News Video

The first reactions from Alex Garland's controversial film 'Civil War' is here and some are calling it a "scary as hell cautionary tale." A24 and writer-director Garland's provocative action drama had its world premiere at South by Southwest.

The film imagines a near-future dystopia where the US has been torn apart under the authoritarian rule of a three-term president played by Nick Offerman.

The story follows a journalist played by Kirsten Dunst and her colleagues as they make their way across a hostile and divided states of America with the hope of interviewing the president.
